||The 2018 Visual Art & Design Showcase is a venue for Mizzou undergraduate students to display and discuss their creative scholarly work in an exhibition setting. Student work will be on display featuring works of photojournalism, graphic design, architectural drawing, painting, textile and apparel design, digital storytelling, floral design and more. A four-person guest jury will award $8,000 in professional development funds to the most outstanding student work. The Showcase will begin on Monday, Feb. 5 with a reception at 5 p.m. followed by a screening of student video work at 6 p.m. in Jesse Auditorium. Jury members will participate in a panel discussion at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6 in Jesse Auditorium and Michael Eastman will deliver the keynote address at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7 in Jesse Auditorium. Eastman is a one of the world’s leading contemporary photographic artists. A self-taught photographer, he has spent five decades documenting interiors and facades of buildings in cities such as Havana, Paris, Rome and New Orleans. His work crosses the boundaries of photography and architecture, commercial work and gallery work, and captures three-dimensional work in a two-dimensional medium. The students’ work will be on display in Jesse Hall from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. on Feb. 5-Feb.15. All events are free and open to the public.
