    MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Alabama Republican Roy Moore, beset by allegations of sexual misconduct, lost his bid to become a senator. He was defeated by former U.S. attorney Doug Jones.

    Several women have accused Moore of sexual assault. Two of them said they were teens at the time it happened.

    JEFFERSON CITY - The former Cole County Chief Juvenile Officer sued his former boss and the Cole County Commission Tuesday, claiming leadership failed to investigate illegal drug use among deputy juvenile officers.

    Kurt Valentine worked for Cole County until Sept. 1. He says he resigned after his boss, Cole County Juvenile Court Administrator Michael Couty, told him he would be fired regardless of the outcome of an internal investigation. Valentine said it wasn't clear what the purpose of the investigation was.

    It will specifically focus on why people choose to become foster parents, what makes them continue or what makes them want to stop.

    AUDRAIN COUNTY - A criminal investigation was underway Tuesday after a man's death and a vehicle fire. Foul play was suspected.

    Audrain County sheriff's deputies responded shortly after noon Tuesday to a report of a vehicle fire and a man down in the road on Audrain Road 913.

    Incumbent Larry Henry will not be running for reelection, which leaves the seat open for two newcomers.

    COLUMBIA - Cover Missouri, a coalition promoting sign ups for the Affordable Care Act, held an open-enrollment event at the Columbia Public Library Tuesday night. 

    Scott Miniea, the central hub organizer, worked with colleagues to help people sign up or alter their healthcare plans. He said there could be consequences for not getting insurance.

    COLUMBIA - The Truman VA’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) went live with a new Tele-ICU technology on Tuesday.

    Tele-ICU is a supportive service provided by VA intensivists in Minneapolis, Minnesota. An intensivist is a physician who has special critical care training.

    COLUMBIA - Police are still investigating the death of Augustus Roberts, the man found dead at a home in the Old Hawthorne neighborhood on Monday.

    No motive or suspect information has been released in the case yet.
