COLUMBIA - Three Columbia College athletes were recognized with American Midwest Conference Player of the Week titles on Monday.
Malik Holman was named as Men's Indoor Track and Field athlete of the week for the second time this season. Holman finished first in three events over the weekend, leading Columbia College to its second-straight Indoor Track and Field Championship. He tallied top times in the 1,000 meter run, the mile run and the 3,000 meter run. Holman was also named Indoor Most Outstanding Track Athlete of the Year.
Missouri women's basketball continues climb in rankings

COLUMBIA - Missouri women's basketball continued its climb in the AP rankings Monday, moving up from No. 13 to No. 11.
The only other conference teams ahead of Missouri in the rankings are No. 7 South Carolina and No. 2 Mississippi State.
New bill to lift restrictions on felons in the workforce

JEFFERSON CITY – A House committee approved a bill to allow people with prior convictions to work in places that sell alcohol and lottery tickets.
Steve Smith, CEO of Job Point in Columbia, said the bill would open doors for the people he works with every day.
City Council to vote on community policing resolution

COLUMBIA - The Columbia City Council is expected to adopt a resolution declaring its support for community-oriented policing at its meeting Monday night. The resolution would define parameters of community-oriented policing and design a citywide program.
City Manager Mike Matthes appointed Sgt. Robert Fox to lead the effort. It's a new and temporary position - if the resolution is passed.

Columbia's sewage system to receive $2.7 million upgrade

COLUMBIA - A $2.7 million project to the Columbia sewage system will be introduced to city council Monday night.
The project will focus on upgrading sewer pipes, manholes, and lateral connections to the main. Around 15,000 linear feet of sewer main will be rehabilitated throughout Columbia.
