    FORT LEONARD WOOD - Soldiers attending 787th Military Police Battalion for Military Police One Station Unit Training enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

    Drill sergeants from the companies and senior leaders from the battalion and US Army Military Police School served the soldiers.

    COLUMBIA – Shoppers put down their forks and picked up their wallets as Black Friday deals ran into Thanksgiving.

    Many stores around mid-Missouri and the nation opened their doors for early holiday shopping on Thursday. The Best Buy on Worley Street had a line of people running the entire front of the building hours before the doors opened around 5 p.m.

    COLUMBIA - Volunteers, young and old, served food to hundreds of people for Almeta Crayton’s Everybody Eats 20th Annual Thanksgiving Meal at the Columbia Senior Activity Center Thursday. 

    Almeta Crayton passed away in 2013 before Thanksgiving, but the tradition lives on. Executive Director Kentrell Minton said he started volunteering 17 years ago.

    MEXICO - A 34-year-old man died Thursday morning after he crashed his vehicle.

    Omar Guadencio Cruz-Martinez, of Mexico, Missouri, was driving his 1999 Honda crossover southbound on Fairground Road when the vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree.

    BOONE COUNTY - The Boone County Sheriff's Department confirmed a pedestrian died after being struck by a car on Wednesday night.

    The incident happened in the 6700 block of Gillespie Bridge Road at approximately 10:14 p.m.

    COLE COUNTY - The Cole County Sheriff's Department said it is investigating a shooting that happened Wednesday night.
    Chief Deputy John Wheeler said one person was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening wounds.
    The sheriff's department said the victim is not cooperating, so authorities don't really know where the incident happened.
    The victim was originally taken to the Capital Region Medical Center, but was then transferred to MU Hospital's Trauma Center.

    COLUMBIA - Missouri basketball star Michael Porter Jr. is recovering after undergoing surgery in Dallas Tuesday. MU said he will likely miss the rest of the season.

    Porter underwent a microdiscectomy of the L3-L4 spinal discs. The procedure has a projected recovery time of three to four months.

    COLUMBIA - On Wednesday, Columbia police released photos of an October armed robbery at Dash Liquor.

    On October 29, police responded to Dash Liquor on Paris Road after a man entered the business wearing a mask, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the cash register.

    COLUMBIA - A Columbia man involved in a deadly shooting in May has been indicted by a federal grand jury on a gun charge.

    Ricky Gurley, 50, was indicted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

    JEFFERSON CITY – With Thanksgiving comes a lot more traffic on the roads. In fact, according to AAA there will be about 25,000 more people on the road this year than last in Missouri alone.

    AAA expects to see around 45.5 million people on the road nationwide.
