Prosecutor declines to charge pilot accused of having gun

ST. LOUIS (AP) — A Missouri prosecutor will not file criminal charges against a Southwest Airlines pilot arrested after Transportation Security Administration agents found a loaded handgun in his carry-on luggage before his flight left St. Louis Lambert Airport.
Ed Magee, a spokesman for St. Louis County prosecutor Robert McCulloch, said Friday that the pilot will not be charged because there is no proof that he knowingly carried the firearm into the secure area of the airport.
St. Louis mechanic shot in dispute over car repair

ST. LOUIS (AP) — A St. Louis man is facing charges for allegedly shooting a mechanic in a dispute over repairs to his vehicle.
KTVI-TV reports that 34-year-old Shaun Lewis was charged Thursday with assault and armed criminal action. The victim is recovering in a hospital after having his spleen removed.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — The state of Missouri is looking for input on how to spend $41 million from a national settlement with Volkswagen over the automaker's emissions cheating scandal.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that options include buying electric vehicles and electric charging stations for the state.

COLUMBIA - Columbia police and fire department units responded to reports of an overturned car at Grayson Cottages early Saturday morning.
The units were dispatched to Nifong Blvd. just before 3:30 a.m.
Shots fired at Ninth and Cherry Streets in downtown Columbia

COLUMBIA - Shots were fired in downtown Columbia early Saturday morning in an area typically packed with late night celebrants.
Witnesses said they saw a small group of people arguing, with shots ringing out shortly after.
Crash on Stadium sends one to hospital

COLUMBIA - One person was hurt in a crash on Stadium Boulevard at the intersections of East Pointe Road and Audubon Drive.
Two vehicles were involved and each had to be towed from the scene.
Fire burns roof at research center on MU campus

COLUMBIA - The Dalton Cardiovascular Research Center off Providence Road caught fire Friday night.
A division chief said crews found flames in an attic space under the roof. They were able to get it completely put out.
MU Extension's county councils now accepting nominations

The councils comprises ten to twenty members over the age of 18 who live in the county.
