Rocheport holds its first ever hall of fame

ROCHEPORT- The city of Rocheport honored two men on Sunday whose legacy has stretched across the state of Missouri.
Charles Quarles Chandler II and Dr. William Stone Woods were both inducted into Rocheport’s new hall of fame. Woods was born in Columbia, but spent a lot of his time in Rocheport. He died in 1917. Chandler II grew up in Rocheport and died in 1943. Chandler worked in banking alongside his uncle, Woods.
National Safe Boating Week underway

COLUMBIA - The Missouri State Highway Patrol is taking to social media to spread awareness of National Safe Boating Week ahead of Memorial Day weekend.
The annual campaign spans from May 19 – 25 this year. It comes after the deaths of three people in a boat crash at the Lake of the Ozarks early Saturday morning.
Greitens speaks to families and fire fighters at memorial

AUXVASSE - Gov. Eric Greitens spoke at the 16th annual Fire Fighters Memorial Service on Sunday.
The service was held at Auxvasse Elementary School because of inclement weather. It was supposed to be held at the Fire Fighters Memorial in Kingdom City.
Columbia parks and rec gives kids prizes for playing

COLUMBIA - Children in Columbia have a chance to get paid to play.
Columbia Parks and Recreation started its Visit Your Parks and Playgrounds Challenge. Parents and children are challenged to visit as many of Columbia's 46 parks and playgrounds as they can. This will give them a chance to win a $100 parks and recreation gift certificate.

Puppy yoga raises money for rescued dogs

COLUMBIA - Over 90 people showed up at the Burr Oak Brewery for an afternoon of puppies, yoga and beer for a good cause.
Hosted by Yoga Gives COMO and in partnership with the dog rescue charity Unchained Melodies, the event raised around $2,000 for the healing and adoption of dogs rescued from chains.
Zombie-themed 5K brings out Columbia families

COLUMBIA - Although it is nowhere near Halloween, some Columbia runners faced their fears by participating in a zombie-themed 5K run Saturday morning.
The Zombie Run 5K took place at Fear Fest Haunted House in Columbia near I-70W.
UPDATE: Troopers identify victims in fatal boat crash at the Lake of the Ozarks

CAMDEN COUNTY - The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released the identities of the three people killed and the two people injured in a boat crash at the Lake of the Ozarks early Saturday morning.
The patrol said 22-year-old Hayden Frazier of Overland Park, Kansas, was driving a boat when it struck a rock bluff around midnight. Troopers arrested Frazier on suspicion of three counts of boating while intoxicated leading to death of another, boating while intoxicated leading to serious injury of another and negligent operation of a vessel. He was being held at Camden County Jail.
Minor flooding along Mississippi River in Missouri

ST. LOUIS (AP) — The Mississippi River is above flood stage at several northeast Missouri locations, but forecasters do not expect major flooding.
The National Weather Service map of river observations shows that the Mississippi is generally 2-4 feet above technical flood stage from the Iowa border south to near St. Louis. A few fields and low-lying roads are affected, but no major damage has been reported.
Royal wedding: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are married

(CNN) -- And they're married! Britain's Prince Harry and US actress Meghan Markle were wed Saturday at Windsor Castle in a ceremony that combined British pageantry with modern style.
In a departure from tradition, Markle walked much of the way up the aisle unchaperoned, followed by her 10 bridesmaids and page boys -- a move that is unprecedented for a royal bride in Britain.
