    ST. LOUIS (AP) — Yangervis Solarte homered and drove in a career-high six runs, Austin Hedges also went deep and the San Diego Padres beat the St. Louis Cardinals 12-4 on Tuesday night.

    Solarte hit his homer a projected 455 feet over the right-field bullpen in the eighth inning to cap his career night. The Padres had scored six runs over their previous four games combined.

    The FNF Game of the Week features Mexico at Battle. Spartans Head Coach Justin Conyers returns for his fifth season, hoping to bring Battle to another state championship.

    COLUMBIA - Missouri football junior defensive end Nate Howard was arrested by MUPD Monday night after failing to appear in court for a speeding offense in Montgomery County.

    Howard was released after paying the $121 bail.

    CHICAGO (AP) — Whit Merrifield hit a three-run homer and drove in a career-high five runs, and the Kansas City Royals pounded the Chicago White Sox 14-6 on Sunday.

    Drew Butera had four of Kansas City's 16 hits, helping the Royals climb back over .500 at 59-58. Jorge Bonifacio hit his 15th homer, and Lorenzo Cain had two hits and two RBIs.

    ST. LOUIS (AP) — R.A. Dickey held St. Louis to one run in seven innings, Brandon Phillips hit a two-run homer and the Atlanta Braves stopped the Cardinals' season-high, eight-game winning streak with a 6-3 victory Sunday.

    Dickey (8-7) allowed seven hits — none for extra bases until his final inning. The 42-year-old knuckleballer has given up one or no earned runs in eight of 23 starts.

    ST. LOUIS (AP) Randal Grichuk and Paul DeJong homered and the St. Louis Cardinals stretched their winning streak to eight games with a 6-5 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night.

    Carlos Martinez (9-9) tossed six solid innings and also drove in a run for the Cardinals, who moved within 1/2 game of the first-place Chicago Cubs in the NL Central.

    ST. LOUIS - Fans of the most famous missing cat in Missouri can breathe a sigh of relief. St. Louis Feral Cat Outreach trapped a cat in downtown's City Garden last night and are declaring it to be Rally Cat.

    "We are confident he is the right cat because of the bands on his legs and the bullseye on his back," the organization said on its Facebook page.

    MARSHALL - The Missouri Valley College football team is ranked 12th in the NAIA Football Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll. 

    The Vikings finished 9-3 in 2016, making the postseason for the first time since 2014 and were selected to finish second in the Heart of America Athletic Conference's Southern Division in last week's conference coaches poll behind the national No. 2 Baker University.
