    DENVER - In a possible National League wild card game preview, the St. Louis Cardinals went to Denver and took two of three games from the Colorado Rockies this weekend.

    On Friday, the Redbirds jumped on the Rockies early, as outfielder Tyler O’Neill and pitcher Miles Mikolas both blasted second inning home runs to power the Cards to a 7-5 win.

    DENVER (AP) — Late in the game, the Colorado Rockies quickly turned a pitchers' duel into a one-sided slugfest.

    Pinch-hitter Matt Holliday launched his first home run of the season in the seventh inning, Carlos Gonzalez sparked an eight-run eighth with a tiebreaking double and the Rockies beat the St. Louis Cardinals 9-1 in a matchup of NL playoff contenders Saturday.

    The Women's Soccer team for the University of Missouri faced their first loss of the season on Saturday in their third straight road game. They fell to the Colorado Buffalos 6-0 in their most attended game of the year, now making their record 1-1-1 on the year following the tough loss.

    It was a rough day after Colorado's Tatum Barton put on a show with a hat trick, making herself the leading scorer of the game.

    CHICAGO - The Kansas City Chiefs took on the Chicago Bears in a battle of the Midwest on Saturday, with the Chiefs falling to the Bears in a valiant attempt to defeat the Windy City.

    The Bears opted out of starting most of their primary first-string players, and it had an effect that most would not expect.

    KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Royals threw the game away on two costly throwing errors that lead to a four game sweep by the Tampa Bay Rays. 

    With the game tied at three in the bottom of the ninth, Kevin Kiermaier of the Rays came to the plate with the bases loaded and one out.

    The University of Missouri Athletics 2018 Hall of Fame induction class is highlighted by six outstanding athletes who have more than left their mark both inside and outside of their respective sports. This is the school's 28th class since 1990, but it may very well be one of its brightest. The standouts will be formally inducted on Fri., Oct. 19 at the Hampton Inn & Suites In Columbia. In addition, the athletes will be honored at the Tigers Homecoming Football game against the University of Memphis. These standout athletes more than embody what it means to be a student athlete at Mizzou. Without further delay, here is a look at Mizzou Athletics newest Hall of Fame inductees.

  • Columbia College drops first regular season game to Bellevue Posted on 22 August 2018 at 11:01pm

    COLUMBIA- The Cougars are off to a shaky start to the soccer season as they lose their first regular season game to Bellevue (Neb.) in a score of 3-2.

    Columbia College battled on the pitch in the final minutes of the game, cutting Bellevue's two-goal lead to only one goal. The Cougars' two goals were scored by Mako Makoanyane and Adam De Toit.

    TAMPA BAY - The 2018 season has not been a kind one to the Kansas City Royals. The Royals have only managed to win five games thus far in August. As the regular season trickles to an end on September 30, the Royals will look to avoid finishing last place in the American League Central, 35 games back of first place.

    Since losing Lorenzo Cain and Eric Hosmer due to free agency and most recently a Mike Moustakas trade to Milwaukee, the boys in blue have had a hard time fighting their way back into the winners circle.

    ST. LOUIS - The Redbirds have been very hot this season. In fact, the Cardinals who are currently 70-57, have won 12 of their last 15 games and sit just two and half games back of Chicago (71-53), the team at the top of the NL Central.

    The Cardinals who will finish up their regular season on September 30th, are still fighting hard for the final wild card spot in the National League. As of Wednesday, St. Louis is neck and neck with Milwaukee who has just one more loss than the Cardinals. The Cardinals will be looking for their 71st win on Wednesday night and the series sweep against the Dodgers out at sunny Dodger Stadium.
