ST. LOUIS - Cardinals first baseman Matt Carpenter pledged to donate $10,000 to hurricane relief in Houston for every home run he hits for the rest of the season.
Carpenter sent a Tweet on Monday afternoon making the pledge, and soon after, he announced pitcher Adam Wainwright agreed to match his donations.
The first baseman is a native Texan, calls Fort Worth home and attended Texas Christian University.
In a suggestion for how to make donations rise, Carpenter Tweeted that fans can donate through a link or, "if you're a MLB pitcher throw balls down the middle."
Carpenter has hit 17 home runs so far this season.
