Munlyn named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the WeekPosted on 2 October 2017 at 6:00pm
COLUMBIA – After a great start to conference play for the Missouri Tiger Volleyball, middle blocker Alyssa Munlyn was named the SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Munlyn, a junior from Suwanee, GA, ranks second nationally in total blocks with 109. In addition, Munlyn leads the Tigers in sets played, kills, hitting percentage and points.
The award comes after an undefeated week for Mizzou, winning on the road at Auburn Friday and at Alabama on Sunday.
The junior has received the honor a total of eight times as a Tiger and this is her first in 2017.
Munlyn has played a crucial role in the past three victories for Mizzou. Her best of the three-game stretch came against the Auburn Tigers.
The middle blocker put up a season-high 15 kills and 12 total blocks. Those 12 blocks are tied for the most by an SEC player this season. Munlyn also leads the SEC in total blocks.
Munlyn will look to defend her title in the Tigers lone game this week, an SEC showdown against Ole Miss on Sunday.
