Both Mens and Womens Soccer set to host NAIA Opening RoundPosted on 13 November 2017 at 6:58pm
COLUMBIA – Cougar Soccer bore the fruit of their success as both programs will be hosting the opening round of their NAIA tournaments.
The women boast the No. 10 seed nationally after a 20-1 record. The one lost on their season came early in October on the road against William Woods, another team in the national tournament.
Leading the NAIA in shots per game (27.43) and total shutouts (17), also are in the top five in total assists (86) and total goals (103).
Ranked seventh nationally, the Cougars have been highly praised for their defense, outscoring their opponents 103-6 while not allowing a goal since October 10.
They’ll take on Sienna Heights (Mich.) University (12-6-2) on Saturday, Nov 18 at 1 P.M.
The men are ranked No. 12 in the tournament and come in with a 17-2-2 record while going without a lost (10-0-1) in conference.
After a rocky start on the season, the Cougars are coming off of a hot five-game win streak including the AMC Tournament Championship over Central Baptist College.
Goalkeeper Nicolau Neto has lead the Cougars and the nation with .410 goals against per game and has been a huge contributor to the 46-12 scoring margin that the No. 12 team has kept through the season.
