Cardinals land Ozuna from MarlinsPosted on 13 December 2017 at 10:41pm
The St. Louis Cardinals have acquired outfielder Marcell Ozuna from the Miami Marlins. The deal is pending a physical.
The Cardinals' quest to find an impact bat has been completed after coming up empty-handed in the Giancarlo Stanton sweepstakes.
Ozuna clubbed 37 home runs and knocked in 124 RBIs last season, good for a .924 OPS, a .548 slugging percentage and a Silver Slugger Award.
The two-time All-Star is also solid defensively, having won his first gold glove in 2017.
Ozuna, who earned $3.5 million last season, is eligible for arbitration this offseason, but will not become a free agent until 2020 at the earliest.
According to the Miami Herald, the Marlins will receive right-handed pitching prospect Sandy Alcantara, outfielder Magneuris Sierra, right-handed pitcher Zac Gallen and left-handed pitcher Daniel Castano.
