JACKSON (AP) - One person is dead following a fire that destroyed a home in the southeast Missouri town of Jackson.
The Southeast Missourian reports that the fire broke out around 3 a.m. Thursday. Jackson Fire Chief Jason Mouser says four members of the family that lived in the home got out, but one died in the blaze. The name and age of the victim have not been released.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
It took firefighters about 30 minutes to get the blaze under control. The effort was hindered by wind and extreme cold temperatures.
