OKLAHOMA CITY - At least one person has been killed as the result of winds from severe thunderstorms in northeast Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 70-year-old Jimmy King of Ash Grove, Mo., was driving on the Will Rogers Turnpike near Afton Friday when straight-line winds flipped his semi onto a cement barrier wall and trapped him inside. Troopers say King was pinned in the wreckage for nearly three hours and died at the scene of massive injuries.

Severe storms rolled across northern, central and eastern Oklahoma on Friday, damaging trees and power lines and leaving more than 18,100 homes and businesses without electricity. The storms erupted along a cold front that unleashed winds of 25 mph to 35 mph.

A 76-mph gust was reported at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City.
