1 teen dead, another injured after Maries County crash
MARIES COUNTY — One teenager is dead and another suffered moderate injuries in a single-vehicle crash Friday evening.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Mikayla Sherrell, 16, of Dixon was driving westbound on Highway BB near County Road 636 at 6:55 p.m. Friday. She went off the right side of the road, overcorrected and drove off the left side of the road, eventually striking a tree. Sherrell was pronounced dead at the scene.
Passenger Kelsie Shoemaker, 16, of Crocker was transported to University Hospital with moderate injuries.
Both teens were wearing seat belts.
