COLUMBIA - Columbia police found a 14-year-old missing girl Monday. She had been missing since Sunday night.
At 12:41 a.m., the Columbia Police Department confirmed search crews found the girl. A Boone County Fire Protection District spokesperson said she was sent to University Hospital for evaluation.
Crews found the girl near the 1300 block of Valley Creek Lane in Columbia. The location was about four miles away from where authorities originated the search near ABC Lane.
Police cannot say whether the girl was a runaway. Police withheld her name because she is a minor.
An official with the Boone County Fire Department said he noticed the girl's cell phone ping, meaning the department detected that a cell phone coming from the area belonged to her.
