2 drown in southwest Missouri creek
NEOSHO (AP) - The Missouri State Highway Patrol said two men drowned in a southwest Missouri creek when one man tried to save the other.
The Neosho Daily News reported the men died Friday in Shoal Creek north of Neosho at a dam near the river access.
The patrol identified the victims as 27-year-old Juan Santellano and 35-year-old Danni J. Lopez, both of Neosho.
The patrol said Santellano was wading in the creek when he lost his footing. He was caught in the undercurrent and disappeared into the water. Lopez tried to help Santellano and also was caught in the undercurrent. Both were swept downstream, where the bodies resurfaced.
