3 arrested for suspected kidnapping, drug possesion

COLUMBIA - A 29-year-old man told police he was robbed at gunpoint, kidnapped and assaulted by a man he knew Sunday morning, resulting in three arrests. 

The victim was found walking in the 200 block of Southampton just before 8 a.m. Police said he had been forced at gunpoint into a home at 2904 Range Line Street by a man he knew. The suspect was identified as Robert Johnson. The victim said another man and a woman, Nichole Rayshea Barrett, were with Johnson.

The report said, once the victim was inside the home, Johnson and the other man punched him and hit him with a flashlight. Officers said the victim's head, face, arms, back and side were covered with bruises. 

Later, the victim said, Johnson took his cell phone and money. Johnson, Barrett and the other man got in a black suburban and the victim said he thought they were taking him somewhere to kill him. To buy time, the victim said, he told the suspects he could get car rims they wanted if they took him to the 4700 block of Lake Valley Lane. 

While in the car, the victim told police, Barrett and the other man were poking him with a gun. When they arrived at Lake Valley Lane, Johnson forced the victim out of the car and he took off running. 

Officers later found Johnson and Barrett at 3300 Brampton Court. The hand gun, marijuana and two glass pipes commonly used for drugs were found on Barrett, police said.

The home on Brampton Court belongs to Johnson and another woman, Rechelle Scott, according to police, and a search found several pounds of marijuana, cocaine packaged for distribution and meth in both Johnson and Scott's rooms.

Barrett was arrested on suspicion of armed criminal action, kidnapping, drug possession and assault. 

Johnson was arrested and faces charges of armed criminal action, kidnapping, robbery, assault, drug possession and distribution, delivery, manufacture, or production of a controlled substance.

Scott was arrested and accused of distribution, delivery, manufacture, or production of a controlled substance and drug possession. 

Police were still looking for the third man involved in the alleged kidnapping and assault.
