43-year-old man killed by train in Kansas City suburb
GRANDVIEW (AP) — Police say a 43-year-old man is dead after being hit by a train in the Kansas City suburb of Grandview.
Officers were called to the railroad tracks behind a strip mall shortly before 2:30 p.m. Saturday after a man was found underneath a train.
The man was declared dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released.
The train belongs to the Kansas City Southern Railroad. A spokesman for the railroad issued a statement Saturday saying the train's crew saw a man sitting on the tracks but could not get the train stopped in time to avoid hitting him.
Nobody on the train was injured. The Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office is investigating.
