A Real Superman in Joplin
JOPLIN - Heroes come in all different sizes in Missouri, even kid-sized packages.
The Joplin Fire Department is calling first grader Charles Patterson a very brave young man. During last month's ice storm, Patterson spotted his neighbor lying on the ground. She'd recently had knee surgery, slipped on the ice and couldn't get up. Charles called 911, covered his neighbor with a blanket and waited for the fire department to arrive.
"He kept telling me, Aunt Susie everything's going to be ok. You're gonna be ok. He looked over at me and he's patting me on the head and he says Aunt Susie if you freeze out here the dogs will eat you," said Susan Coble, Joplin.
Susan Coble says Charles will always be her hero, and she's thankful his parents taught him what to do in an emergency.
