Accident on Highway 63 South leaves large amounts of debris on road
BOONE COUNTY - An accident Monday evening left a large amount of debris on Highway 63 South, blocking lanes in both directions.
Southern Boone County Fire Protection District Chief Roger Jaeger said the first units arrived on scene around 6 p.m.
Jaeger said a pick-up truck carrying a trailer with two-thousand pounds of landscape material shot out into northbound 63 after the trailer's brakes failed. A tractor-trailer traveling north hit the back of the truck's trailer, causing the debris to scatter across the road. The tractor trailer missed the truck and driver.
Jaeger said the tractor trailer then swerved across the median and into the guard rail. He said the guard rail prevented the tractor trailer from going into southbound traffic.
No injuries occurred in the accident.
