JEFFERSON CITY - Community members and activists gathered at the Capitol building Thursday in Jefferson City to voice their displeasure over the first half of the legislative session.

Included on the list of things the group was upset with included SJR39, Medicaid expansion, and voter identification.

"There are very real problems in our state. We have over 300,000 Missourians who work low wage jobs who cannot get into a Medicaid program because they technically have too much money, and yet they have too little money to buy the subsidized plans of the Affordable Care Act," Jeanette Mott Oxford said.

Mott Oxford is an activist and also added the voter identification bill, which passed in the House and is currently awaiting a vote in the Senate, puts voters at risk.

"Our legislature does things that are against social justice like passing photo voter identification laws that's passed the House and is poised to pass in the Senate that would disenfranchise over 200,000 folks who've been legally voting," Mott Oxford said.

A number of other activists spoke including Rev. Dr. Rodney Williams who said, "This is about what is right and wrong. This isn't about Democrats and Republicans."

The group said it hopes to see changes in the second half of this legislative session.
