Addiction Treatment Facility Opens
Because of its residential setting, the house differs from outpatient treatment Boone County already offers. The facility will house 16 teenagers, and features a learning center, three bathrooms and two kitchens. A local high school teacher will help them continue their education.
The program also encourages relatives to help with the process.
"The best approach to providing treatment and counseling services is to work with the entire family, to engage that family to take a look into their lives and in their home so that they can change things," said Bob Whittet of Pathways Community Behavioral Healthcare.
The house will welcome its first clients Sept. 5, after they have been referred by doctors and counselors.
