Additional parking meters added for credit and debit cards
COLUMBIA - Columbia residents will have easier ways to pay for parking near the University of Missouri's campus.
Columbia Public Works is installing 50 new meter heads on University Ave. and Hitt St., which accept credit and debit cards. The new parking utility is designed so that it could allow payment via Parkmobile, Google Wallet and Apple Pay in the future.
The new design does not accept the EZ Park card though.
"It changes the way I have to do my parking because I can't get a refund on my credit card," street vendor Jeff Spencer said.
The 50 meter heads will cost $26,400 and the funds come from the parking utility's annual budget.
