Agency Holds Job Fair For Senior Workers
JEFFERSON CITY - A federal agency called "Experience Works" held a job fair for seniors Thursday at the Capitol Mall in Jefferson City. The group works through the Senior Community Service Employment Program(SCSEP), a program of the U.S. Department of Labor. This year was the third year for the job fair.
The fair had several businesses searching for employees, including Lowe's, Avon, and Jordan Essential Bath and Body. Aside from just inviting businesses to exhibit, the job fair also had a session to teach attendees how to develop a proper resume, how to dress for an interview and how to apply for jobs online.
Some potential employees who had part-time jobs or had lost their jobs altogether were able to connect with employers. Another seminar helped people learn how to start their own business. Experience Works said the hardest part about having a job is finding it, especially for people aged 55 and above.
