Airline Departure Prosperous for MoX
"I think we'll see a reciprocal increase from that," said MoX owner Norm Ruebling. "I don't think that all the people that travel airlines out of Columbia Regional will travel with us, but I think we will see some of that."
MoX provides ground transportation between Columbia and the St. Louis and Kansas City airports. Ruebling expects a 2-3% increase, which amounts to four or five people a day.
A round-trip flight from Columbia to St. Louis costs $468 if you buy the ticket at least two weeks in advance. A round-trip ticket with MoX is $75.
MoX's most frequent travelers are business people, students and faculty. MoX said it serves more than 75,000 travelers a year and expects at least another 1,000 per year after the airline stops serving Columbia.
