Ameren 11-mile pipeline nearly complete
COLUMBIA - Ameren Missouri has completed almost 90 percent of an 11-mile natural gas pipeline stretching from Columbia to Ashland.
Roughly 10- miles of the $11 million pipeline project are completed according to Mike Holman, Ameren Missouri's director of gas operations. Holman expects the line to be finished by Oct. 1.
The new pipeline will run south along Highway 63 from the intersection of East Nifong Boulevard and Ponderosa Street in Columbia to link with Ameren's existing line at Eastside Drive in Ashland.
"It will provide the additional gas to ensure Ashland customers continue to receive reliable service both this winter and as the community grows," Holman said.
Ameren agreed to construct the pipeline without interfering with the crops and soil after MU Farms expressed concerns about how the line would be buried.
