COLUMBIA - Americorps Vista held a fresh food drive Saturday in honor of the Martin Luther King holiday.
Americorps Vista collected 165 pounds of fresh produce Saturday morning at the Farmer's Market. The food drive continued during the afternoon at Clover's Natural Market.
Americorps Vista will give the fresh food to the Salvation Army Harbor House, the Catholic Worker Houses of Columbia, and the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen.
"In the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr., we want to help underserved communities gain access to fresh produce," said Americorps Vista Representative Laurel Goodman.
The fresh food drive continues Sunday at Clover's Natural Market from 2 until 6 pm.
