Andy Griffith Dies at 86

TV icon and beloved actor Andy Griffith died this morning.

Griffith, who became famous for "The Andy Griffith Show," died at his home in Dare County, North Carolina around 7 A.M.

Paramedics were called to his home in Manteo, North Carolina.

Andy's close friend, former UNC President Bill Friday broke the news to WITN News in North Carolina.

Griffith was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by George W. Bush in 2005.
