ST. LOUIS (AP) — Missouri has released its annual report cards on school districts and charter schools, but issues with state standardized tests make it difficult to know exactly how well schools did and how their scores compare to previous years.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch looks at data that include 2017 Annual Performance Report and Missouri Assessment Program scores for school districts around St. Louis. The reports released Wednesday are based on performance in the 2016-2017 school year.

At issue is the state's omission of scores on two required tests from calculations of this year's Annual Performance Reports. State education officials say there were errors in the tests.

As a result, the state calculated this year's score by taking the highest point totals for each district for performance reports going back to 2014. The decision saved several public schools from significantly lower scores.
