Annual Operation Red Wreath Begins
COLUMBIA - It's a good sign when the wreath outside the 10th Street Columbia Fire Station glistens red.
The annual Operation Red Wreath began Dec. 1 to help encourage holiday safety.
The purpose is to remind everyone that the happiness of the holiday season can be forever changed in an instant by fire. Common sense and awareness can help keep the wreath red.
The wreath won't change from red to white for any general fire; just when there's a fire sparked by a holiday related accident.
Operation Red Wreath will run through January 2.
