Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Helps Families In Need
COLUMBIA - For the fourteenth annual year, Almeta Crayton and volunteer efforts by Everyone Eats! will feed Columbia for Thanksgiving.
"This is for all those people that just don't have the budget to put on a good Thanksgiving dinner," Crayton said.
This Saturday, Everyone Eats! will be at Moser's asking for donations of cash, check, and food items. A similar fundraising event will be held the following week at the same spot.
Thanksgiving day dinner will be served in the cafeteria at Stephens College. Everyone is welcome. "If you have nowhere to be for the holidays, dress yourself in something nice and come out. You can help cook, serve, or just enjoy the food, music, and company," Crayton said.
Crayton said this year is going to be tougher than any other. Last year, Crayton began dialysis for kidney disease but even that hasn't stopped her.
"Doctors kept saying you may have to give this Thanksgiving deal up. I said I'm not going anywhere,"Crayton said.
As long as there are those in need, Crayton says the annual dinner will continue.
