Arrest made in fake hostage report that caused heavy police response
COLUMBIA - The Columbia Police Department arrested April Rae Brashier, 42, of Columbia, and accused her of falsely calling in a hostage situation June 22 in the 200 block of Apple Tree Court.
Brashier is charged with making a terroristic threat.
Police said she falsely reported a hostage situation and gave police an address that was not valid in order to divert officers from a residence where she was hiding to avoid being arrested on several outstanding warrants.
Dozens of officers, SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Teams searched the scene for 2.5 hours and evacuated three buildings before they cleared the scene.
Brashier was at the Boone County Jail.
