Arrest Made in Investigation of Boonville Child's Death
COOPER COUNTY — Authorities identified and arrested 24-year-old Columbia resident Treschell R. Kemp Thursday for an infant child's death that occurred this summer.
Emergency responders dispatched May 14, 2012, to a report of an infant who was not breathing. Officials pronounced the child's death that same morning, according to a press release from the Cooper County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said the autopsy that was conducted on the child revealed the child's death was not accidental.
A probable cause confirmation was filed with the Cooper County Court Thursday morning, resulting in the issuance Kemp's warrant.
Authorities arrested Kemp, charging her with murder in the second degree, domestic assault in the first degree and abuse of a child. Kemp is currently being held at the Cooper County Detention Center on a bond of $250,000.
Investigators from the Cooper County Sheriff's Department and the State Technical Assistance Team are continuing to work on the case. No further information regarding the case is being released at this time.
