Arrest made in shots fired call
COLUMBIA — Columbia Police officers arrested Joshua Michael McWilliams, 23, of Columbia in reference to Monday night's shots fired call.
At 8:30 p.m. Monday, there was a call regarding shots fired in the 4300 block of Rice Road. The caller reported that someone had shot a gun in the area and then hid the weapon in a nearby vehicle.
Officers arrived shortly after and were able to locate a single shell casing near the intersection of Boyd Lane and Rice Road. McWilliams was then located shortly after in the 4400 block of Stevendave near his home.
Officers did a search of his home and found a cartridge matching the one that was found earlier. They also found felony amounts of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. McWilliams also has a restraining order against him which states that he is prohibited from possessing a gun.
McWilliams was arrested at 9:27 p.m. for felony possession of a controlled substance, violation of an order of protection, and unlawful use of a weapon. His total bond is currently set at $6,000.
