Arrest Made in Torture of St. Louis Dog
ST. LOUIS (AP) - A St. Louis man is charged with shooting and torturing a dog that now gets around with the help of a custom-built cart.
KMOX radio reports that Mayor Francis Slay's Animal Cruelty Task Force arrested 28-year-old Ron Jackson on Monday. Jackson's bond was set Tuesday at $25,000 on a charge of felony animal abuse. He did not have a lawyer, and a phone number for him could not be found.
A city worker found the male pit bull mix Sept. 21 in a trash bin. Someone had shot him 10 to 12 times and tried to strangle him with an electrical cord.
The dog now lives with the founder of the group Stray Rescue of St. Louis and needs a special cart to get around, because his hind legs are paralyzed.
