Ashland Board to Discuss Alderman's Fate
ASHLAND - The city of Ashland is scheduled to discuss Alderman Jeff Anderson's fate at the Board of Aldermen's meeting Tuesday evening. Anderson said he and the city may reach a settlement to prevent impeachment.
Here is a timeline of events:
-Anderson was elected in April, 2013.
-September 16, the Board of Aldermen and Ashland Mayor Gene Rhorer met in a closed session without Anderson present.
-After the closed session, the Board of Aldermen wrote Anderson a letter notifying him of his suspension.
-October 1, Anderson attended a special meeting but nothing was resolved.
-Anderson filed a lawsuit on October 11 against the city claiming that neither the Board of Aldermen nor the mayor had the authority to suspend him.
-On October 23, Anderson was reinstated to his post as one of the city's Ward 2 Alderman.
-Just a week after being reinstated, the Board of Aldermen and the mayor voted in a 4-2 decision on October 29 to start the impeachment process for Anderson.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at 303 Main St. at the middle school annex.
