ASHLAND - KOMU 8 News learned the gas leak in Ashland that started around 9:30 a.m. has stopped at approximately 11:15 a.m. Wednesday. The leak occurred after a 6-inch pipe broke during construction on Main Street near Redbud Lane. The air is clear in the Southern Boone Middle School area, and students re-entered the building shortly after the leak stopped. All schools affected will also open again Wednesday.
Missouri Department of Transportation officials have opened roads closed during the gas leak and traffic is expected to return to normal. The post office is also open again. Ameren Missouri is expected to re-light pilot lights in homes affected.
The Southern Boone Fire Protection District, Ashland Police Department and Missouri Highway Patrol all responded to the incident. There were no injuries.
