COLUMBIA - Columbia Police continued their search Friday for three suspects they said robbed an Aspen Heights residence early Friday morning.

Police have described two of the suspects: one as a black male, 6'2"-6'3", 200 pounds, who was wearing all grey clothes. The other was described as a black male, also approximately 6'2" and 180 pounds. The two suspects are believed to have fled the scene in a grey, four-door sedan.

Police say responding officers observed a car that matched the description fleeing the area at high speeds, but pursuit was terminated by the Sergeant on duty for safety reasons.

Aspen Heights is supposed to be a gated-community, but the gates are not yet in place. A couple of residents said they think Aspen Heights should step up security.

"I mean, yeah, there is an entrance without any security right now," resident Lauren Garvey said. "We just walked right in and nobody even stopped us."

Stuart Watkins, Aspen Heights public relations director, released in a statement "Until the access gate is complete, a third party security agency is on site 24 hours."

Aspen Heights told residents in an email Friday that a gate should be in place by next week.

Meanwhile, it said guards are also checking in visiting vehicles.
