GLADSTONE (AP) - An AT&T technician has died after someone attacked him while he worked in a suburban Kansas City neighborhood.
Kevin M. Mashburn managed to pull himself into his service truck and radio for help after he was struck in the head early Wednesday in Gladstone. A family member says a coworker told Mashburn to turn on the truck's flashing light and drive to a populated area where someone could see him. The Kansas City Star reported that Masbhurn was unconscious when police and paramedics arrived.
Police Capt. Jeff Self says Mashburn was rushed to a hospital, where he died. Self didn't release other details about the assault. There were no immediate arrests.
AT&T said in a written statement that the company was "deeply saddened by the tragic death."
