Attic fire put out in Columbia apartment complex
COLUMBIA - The Columbia Fire Department reported to a structure fire at the 300 block of Hartley Court in Columbia early Wednesday morning.
Authorities said the occupants of the building and their pets escaped uninjured when the fire broke out around 6:53 a.m.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but fire department spokesperson John Metz said in a news release the fire started in the attic of the apartment building. No word yet either on the damage estimate.
Three fire engines, a ladder truck and a rescue squad responded to the incident. Crews remained on the scene for about two hours.
