Boone County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Michael Perkins told KOMU 8 News a group of kids were playing by the road and the creek, so somebody called for an officer to check on their safety.
Upon the deputies' arrival, Perkins said one of the kids discovered the body in the creek.
Perkins said there were no indications of foul play and the body recovered was that of 48-year-old Skaggs, Sr. Authorities previously said Skaggs was 47.
Perkins said early indications are that the man drowned, but stressed that is the early indication.
