Authorities shut down I-70 Drive in search for suspect
BOONE COUNTY-- Boone County Deputies are searching for a suspect at a residence on I-70 Drive NE near the Centralia exit 133.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol shut down part of I-70 Drive NE near Leeway after a suspect locked himself into the residence.
Approximately six road officers and several SWAT officers have barricaded the suspect and are waiting for a search warrant to enter the home.
Sgt. Michael Halford said officers know who the suspect is, but are not releasing his name at this time.
The suspect currently has two felony warrants out for his arrest. Officers were looking for him earlier in the evening when a neighbor spotted him pulling into the house at approximately 6:30 p.m.
This suspect is unrelated to events in Petis County.
The other residents of the house were able to get out before police arrived.
Sgt. Halford said there is no reason to believe the suspect is dead, however he has not made contact with officers.
Negotiators are on site to work with the suspect until a warrant is obtained.
