Back to School Tax Holiday Begins
COLUMBIA - The Back to School sales tax holiday started at midnight Friday, and runs through Sunday.
The state sales tax is currently waived on certain items that students might typically be looking for before school starts.
It includes clothing items under 100-dollars,and doesn't include accessories. The tax exemption applies to any school supplies used in a traditional classroom, and it must be for educational purposes.
People can also purchase computers under this sales tax exemption. Costumers don't have to be a student or kid going to school to take advantage of the tax holiday.
This tax holiday doesn't mean all sales tax will be waived. Certain cities and counties have not waived their local taxes.
