Ballingall and Long Lead Mizzou at NCAA Golf Regionals
OCALA, FL - Day One of the 2011 NCAA Southeast Regional began on Thursday where Stuart Ballingall and Jace Long kept the Tigers in contention after 18-holes of play at the Golden Ocala Golf Course.
Ballingall led Mizzou with an even-par 72 on Thursday, continuing his strong finish to the 2010-11 campaign, coming off a fourth-place showing at the 2011 Big 12 Championships in which he earned All-Tournament accolades in Hutchinson, Kansas. He is currently tied for 25th overall and is just one shot removed from the top 11.
Long is just one shot behind Ballingall in the overall standings with a 1-over-par 73. He is also tied for 32nd overall and played the par-5's two-under-par on Thursday.
Will Harrold is tied for 42nd with a 2-over-par 74. Harrold scored one shot better than freshman teammate Emilio Cuartero, who is 53rd with a 3-over-par 75. Nick Wilson rounded out the Tiger scores with a competitive 4-over-par 76.
The host Florida Gators lead the event by one shot with a 6-under-par team total of 282. Arkansas is second with a 283.
Oregon's Jack Dukeminier is the individual leader after 18 holes of play with a 6-under-par 66. He bettered Kennesaw State's Ben Greene and Southeastern Louisiana's Philipp Westermann by one stroke.
The second round of play at the 2011 NCAA Southeast Regional continues Friday morning with 18 holes of competition.
