Bar fight leaves 20-year-old man unconscious, hospitalized
COLUMBIA - An altercation inside Bengals Bar and Grill early Sunday morning left a 20-year-old man unconscious and hospitalized.
About 12:56 a.m., an officer on foot patrol was flagged down and found the victim lying on the floor of the bar unconscious and bleeding from his ear before he was transported to a local hospital.
According to the Columbia police department, employees of the bar showed officers surveillance footage of the incident.
The video obtained by police shows the suspect standing inside near the south doors of the bar with another male. Behind the victim, officers noticed the suspect who was identified by witnesses as Austin S. Lewis.
Lewis, 22, shoved the victim twice. When the victim turned to face the alleged assailant, Lewis punched him in the face and knocked him to the floor.
Lewis was arrested Sunday afternoon for second degree assault with a bond of $4,500.
