COLUMBIA- Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers and a Mattress Giant are just a few of the stores coming to Columbia. The city can also expect to smell a new barbeque restaurant called Smokehouse Bar-B-Que, a mexican restaurant, a new Panera Bread and an optometry and clothing store.

Panera Bread and Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers will be located at the construction on Broadway and Highway 63. On the west side of the city, at the Shoppes at Stadium, residents will see the other businesses such as Clarkson Eyecare and the Kansas City barbeque restaurant.

With more than 56,000 square feet of new development, we asked folks what they wanted to see added to the city.

MU Student Samuel Norwood said that he would love to see an H&M fashion store in Columbia. H&M is a swedish multinational retail clothing shop for men, women, teenagers and kids.

Matthew Colgin said he prefers Columbia build a House of Blues restaurant.  "Columbia should build a minor league baseball field also," said Colgin.

President and Director of Special Project for Kroenke Holdings, Otto Maly, said he can't confirm when construction will be done and if there will be any other tenants moving in the construction areas.  He does say he is pretty sure that all the property is sold.

The first new offering to the area, Cheddar's, will open next Monday.
