ST. LOUIS (AP) - Flooding on the Mississippi River isn't nearly as bad as on parts of the Missouri River, but it's still causing some problems. A pleasure barge called the Belle of the Night, which sits docked as it awaits restoration north of St. Louis, nearly broke free Friday. The US Coast Guard and a tug boat company arrived to secure the four story tall replica steamboat after it lost two of three anchor cables due to the fast-moving river and debris. The concern was that if the barge broke free, it would strike the Chain of Rocks Bridge just a few hundred yards away. The top two stories of the barge would hit the bridge. Officials now say the barge is safely secured.
