Bike, Walk and Wheel Week Gives out Free Breakfast
COLUMBIA - As a part of Bike, Walk and Wheel Week, Friday is Breakfast Station Day. There are 11 breakfast station locations across Columbia handing out free breakfast for people biking and walking to their destination until 9 a.m. Along with Breakfast Station Day, it is also Walk to School Day. West Boulevard and Russell Boulevard Elementary Schools students ate free breakfast at the ARC before they walked and wheeled their way to school. Lee Elementary, Ridgeway Elementary and Jefferson Junior High School are also participating in Walk to School Day. Those three schools ate at Shiloh's Bar and Grill.
Bike, Walk and Wheel Week started in 2002. It was the vision of former mayor Darwin Hindman. Saturday is the final day of Bike Walk and Wheel Week 2011. There are five more events that include:
