Black Friday Shoppers Benefit Local Businesses
COLUMBIA - Local business owners in Columbia's downtown area said they saw an increased number of consumers on Black Friday.
As many people are out of town during Thanksgiving and many consumers go to big department stores for door buster sales, Black Friday is not usually the busiest time for local small businesses. However, many stores in downtown area are providing Black Friday specials to consumers.
Rachel Sauter, Britches store manager, said her store opened early and offered 20 percent off to attract more people who are in town during the holiday.
Asadan Hamadto went shopping in downtown area before she went to the mall. She said it's good to shop locally, and sometimes she can find better deals.
Sauter also said Black Friday is a good opportunity to decorate and kick off the "Holiday Season."
