Blair Oaks and Cole County Reach Tax Agreement
WARDSVILLE - The Blair Oaks R-II School District Board of Education and Cole County agreed on a surtax settlement Monday afternoon. This agreement comes after two years of negotiation. It has been sent to the County for full approval.
The conflict stems from the District receiving too much money from the County. The District says it began to question the amounts of money received after the 2006 distibution. Over the last 20 years, Blair Oaks was overpaid $774,000, Jefferson City School District was overpaid $2.4 million, and Cole County overpaid itself by $1,2 million.
